Sand or Salt?
A bucket contains some water. Would adding a cup of sand or a cup of salt make the water level rise more?

The water level would rise more when sand is added than when salt is added. Some or all of the salt would dissolve in the water, taking up less space than it did as a solid, whereas none of the sand would dissolve.
