Test Your Sci-Fi Eye!

Even when your eyes see only part of a picture, your brain can often fill in what's missing, letting you identify what's being shown. Try this for yourself. Look at the following images. Each is part of a real object. Guess what each object might be.

1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Answers.

Let's take it into the SciFiZone. Look at the partial images again (above). Think about famous science fiction characters or devices—things you may have seen in movies, comic books, or games. If each of these images were part of a costume or shape from science fiction, who, or what, might each one be?

Possible answers.

Think about the science. Why is it useful to be able to identify something from only a small part? How might this be important to you? When, if ever, might this ability cause a problem?
